This is an antique Japanese late Meiji Era (c. 1900) transfer print Imari ceramic bowl with designs of birds, crane, pine, bamboo and plum blossom. The three elements of happiness: pine, bamboo and plum blossom (sho-shiku-bai). It has a unique glazed footing (see pictures 8 & 9) which was used in the late Edo era until mid Meiji to allow the outer bottom circumference to be glazed. This bowl was fired in a wood fired kiln at high temperture for lasting durability.

It measures 9 1/2" in diameter by 3 1/2" tall (24 x 8.5 cm). With the exception of one very small rim nic (see pictures 2 & 11) it remains in very fine condition .
