KYODAI MIRRORED VANITY BOXES

These vanities were used by Japanese women to store jewelry, cosmetics and small personal items.  Some have tall mirrors on hinges, others have racks to hold bronze hand mirrors that would have been polished to a high reflective shine.  The chests would be knelt in front of on the tatami. The tall kyodai disassemble for easy shipping.
