DOLLS
These dolls are handcrafted with wood heads and hands covered in gofun
crushed oyster shell glaze, silk brocade clothing. They range in age from
the late Edo period c. 1850 through the mid 1900s. The Edo period ended in
1867, the Meiji period ended 1912, the Taisho period ended in 1926 and that is
when the Showa period started.
Dolls were displayed every year on March 3rd, which is Girl's Day (Hinamatsuri).
